Apologies for the lengthy nature of this first post but as I'm new to this forum I feel it necessary to introduce myself, However the long and the short of it is that I am a professional model maker and miniature artist and I'm looking to get back to sculpting figures for the war games market. What follows is a bit of info about myself, offered in the hope it might tempt folk to pass one or two interesting projects my way.

My interest in model making and miniatures goes back to the late 70's, and for the last dozen or more years I've worked full time as a freelance model maker and miniature artist/sculptor here in the UK. I've worked on all sorts of projects from traditional miniature portrait painting (2D art work), to pattern mastering, mould making/casting, diorama work plus all sorts of odd marketing and merchandising pieces for cliental around the the globe. My client list is too diverse to list in full, and there's some I can't mention because of non disclosure agreements, however they include many private collectors, varied model manufacturers/retailers in the hobby markets, charities and big institutions like The Tower of London, Rolls Royce and The English Cricket board along with foreign royalty, and the occasional celebrity. My work  has been used by TV companies like the BBC and Sky  as well as promotional campaigns featured in newspapers and on TV, whilst some one inch tall portrait work I was recently commissioned to carve in cheese (don't ask!) also achieved coverage on the MSN website and resulted in the BBC broadcasting a live interview with me about my miniature art.

Anyway, if you'll forgive the previous bit of shameless self promotion, the commissions that have actually been paying me a wage of late have been getting less and less artistically rewarding as it seems to be increasingly more about quirky PR stunts and the ability to turn a project around impossibly quickly or produce soulless rubbish on a shoe-string budget.

Maybe it's a touch of nostalgia as I get older, but I want to get back to sculpting a few gaming miniatures. I'm realistic about the fact I'm unlikely to be offered the same hourly rate for sculpting war-gaming figures as I can afford to charge commercial institutions for model making or art work, but then I'm wanting to do this as much for a bit of creative satisfaction as to earn a living. So, whilst I do have business overheads and can't afford to work for nothing, simply tell me what you'd like sculpting and make a sensible offer regarding what you'd be willing to pay and we'll see if such a project takes my fancy! The hope being that this exposure will lead to just enough profitable commissions to break up the day to day monotony of, to put it bluntly, endlessly sculpting c**p for indecisive corporate and advertising clients who can't tell me what they actually want, but who will pay through the nose for the freedom to keep changing their minds tomorrow so long as they can get the amended work returned yesterday.

Anyway it would be great if one (or more) of the better known and well established manufacturers/retailers liked my work and wanted to drop me a line with a few exciting project ideas but I'm equally happy to talk to private collectors or ambitious new-comers to the market looking to establish a new brand of gaming figures. So if you do have a project in mind, a sensible budget and/or can offer me some sort of decent exposure in this market take a look at my web site www.aidan-campbell.co.uk and get in touch.

Warlord Games is looking for sculptors if anyone's interested.

Note - I'm not associated with Warlord Games at all (other than owning a box of their 28mm WW2 British), just passing on a link I saw on Tabletop Games News  :)

Alix, you should stop starting new blogs and deleting them 1 month later... How do you want to be taken seriously and gain new customers if you are not able to keep a perennial web presence...

You do nice miniatures but stop playing hide and seek !
