World of Twilight creature design.
« on: April 10, 2011, 12:34:09 AM BST GMT »
Hello all. In my more bored moments at work of late I've been sketching some creatures that I thought would fit in well with the WoT world. Mike's seen them but I thought I would share them on here, hope you enjoy them.

I thought I'd commented already.

Nice creatures, Andrew.  I particularly like #2, 5, 9, and 11.  Mostly because of the way you incorporated the crests into the overall contours, and #5 because it vaguely reminds me of a protoceratops. :)

Are you looking for crits, or...?

Thanks Warren, if you want give crit then go ahead by all means. They're all quick jobs when I've been bored at work so I won't cry if you say mean things.  ;)

More than anything it's just nice to share the images, feed back is always nice though.
Cheers

Okay then!  At the moment I think you have a tendency to make a lot of the details, particularly the muscles, bulgy and round.  Most noticeable in #6 onward, and especially #13 onward.  I can't crit too much since muscles are supposed to curve and bulge. ;)  But maybe smoothy out the texture a bit with some flat(tish) planes and fat layers, add in a few more tendons and skeletal shapes.

Thanks Warren, I have spent the last maybe 10yrs working with more '2D' images always working with 'flat images in layers or a single plane so it's been a learning curve. I dont think I've really done this kind of drawing since I left school (now that I think about it that was more like 9yrs ago if you count 6th form )
