The NBA is blessed in that it only competes with the CBA
« on: April 12, 2018, 04:28:38 AM BST GMT »
The allure of China's 1.3 billion residents has proved the decisive factor for many businesses thinking of entering the market here - and sports properties are no different.

The NBA is blessed in that it only competes with the CBA for the attention of Chinese basketball fans Cheap Adidas Ultra Boost White , while soccer leagues from around the world must try to present themselves as the pick of the bunch to attract discerning Chinese fans.

The task is made easier when China has a stake in the game: Yao Ming in the NBA, for example, or Ding Junhui winning snooker tournaments worldwide have both been important in raising TV viewing figures back home. Germany's Bundesliga has long been popular with Chinese soccer fans, but will get a further bump if Wolfsburg's new Chinese signing, Zhang Xizhe Cheap Adidas Ultra Boost , can establish a regular place in the team.

And then we come to tennis.

While it was Li Ting and Sun Tiantian who first put Chinese tennis on the map with women's doubles gold at the 2004 Olympic Games, it was, of course, Li Na who took the sport to a new level with her success in singles, winning the 2011 French Open and the 2014 Australian Open.

The WTA capitalized on that by launching a raft of new tournaments in China Cheap Ultra Boost Blue , including the Wuhan Open, which debuted this year in Li's hometown. The Australian Open has marketed itself as the only Grand Slam in the entire Asia-Pacific region, at least in part so that Chinese fans consider it their "home" major event.

But the French Open's move last week to release a poster designed by a Chinese artist smacks of desperation. To the uneducated eye, at least, the image has no obvious Chinese elements - the fact that artist Du Zhenjun moved to France 23 years ago may have something to do with that - but the head of the French Tennis Federation was keen to emphasize that the work of art resulted from a "collision of two cultures."

If not a collision Cheap Ultra Boost Triple Black , the attempt to keep Chinese fans engaged with Roland Garros now that their main star has retired was certainly jarring. A much better alternative would have been to allocate one wild-card entry slot for the winner of a Chinese, or Asian, playoff tournament.

But although this campaign missed the mark, it's another example of how important China is to the global sports industry - and that is surely good news for Chinese sport in the long run.

LONDON, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) -- If 2015 was the year Britain's first state-sponsored astronaut was rocketed into space, it was also the year Prime Minister David Cameron lit the touch paper to launch Britain into its most important era for a generation, and reset Britain's international strategy on the increasingly complicated world stage.

It saw the creation of a closer relationship between Britain and China Cheap Ultra Boost Triple White , spearheaded by October's state visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping.

It was no ordinary state visit, as Britain pulled out all the stops with the magic of regal pageantry running alongside political diplomacy and engagement.

Few seasoned observers of British detente can ever remember a state visit where the stakes were so high, hence the full involvement of Queen Elizabeth and the Royal family, along with Prime Minister Cameron, his Chancellor George Osborne and Britain's top team of politicians.

It seemed incredible that less than six months before President Xi's visit Cheap Ultra Boost White , Cameron was leading the Conservative Party into a general election with virtually every seasoned pundit predicting another five years of a hung parliament at Westminster.

What happened when the voting closed at 10 p.m. on May 7 - Election Day - will go down in history as the Miracle of Downing Street.

Cameron won an unexpected outright majority, bringing to an end five years of coalition government. The junior partners in that coalition, the Liberal Democrats, were defeated at the ballot box, prompting the resignation of leader Nick Clegg.

Ed Miliband Cheap Ultra Boost , former leader of the main opposition Labour Party, also quit, as the party faced being wiped out in Scotland by the Scottish Nationalist Party, made worse by not making any impact in toe English regions.

At 10 and 11 Downing Street next door neighbors, Cameron and Osborne were setting out their stall for five years of a Conservative majority government Adidas Ultra Boost Blue Sale , released from the shackles of a shared coalition.

And Whitehall officials were already frantically putting the finishing touches to one of the most important ever state visits, a red carpet visit by President Xi.

Arranging for President Xi to be accommodated at Buckingham Palace as guests of the Queen and Prince Philip, was a massive signal that Britain saw the importance of developing a closer relationship with China. The state visit was given saturation national television coverage unheard of, and as deals were announced and contracts signed, it was clear things could only get better.

As a curtain raiser to the state visit Adidas Ultra Boost Triple Black Sale , Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne announced on March 12 that Britain would join the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). The Times of London reported that Britain's move was "in defiance of U.S. pressure".
