15mm Armature wire?
« on: December 11, 2015, 12:44:42 PM GMT GMT »
Hi Guys, I'm new to the group & its been over ten years since my last sculpt!

I would like your input/advice on the type of wire to use for making 15mm armatures. in the past I just used paper clips, but these require a lot of straightening out before use (not ideal).

Thanks in advance.

I use fuse wire, it can be found in most shops, or you can buy a big roll of it. The cards I get it on have three sizes 5/15/30 amp. 5 is thin and useful for 10mm arms and hands if braided. 30 is good for 28mm sculpting and 15 is my go to wire for 15mm work. The wire is malleable, but fairly robust for most work, though I usually switch to brass wire for outstretched arms etc.

28 gauge brass wire is what I'm using now, it's so much more malleable than the fuse wire which can snap if worked overly.
